Meditation:

What is it?

Why do it?

What are the benefits?

Why is something so simple,

so difficult to do?

Webster defines meditation as;
“the act of continued thought of a subject in the mind”.

When one searches for meditation on-line (kind of ironic), we get lots of seemingly disparate information, such as: compassion, Buddhism, pain relief, stress reduction, lowered blood pressure, focus, mindfulness. How are these related? Do I have to become Buddhist to meditate? What does this have to do with Yoga? And why is my doctor telling me it would be good for me?

To meditate in the Yogic tradition is to utilize the systematic, methodical and proven sciences to get the body healthy and the mind peaceful in order to experience our Highest Self, which is already whole and perfect.

There is no need to have a certain affiliation with any religion, be it Buddhism, Catholicism, Hinduism, etc.

It takes practice!
